ISAAC Phase Four is the development and expansion of the scope of the ISAAC website and the creation of this resources section for ISAAC collaborators especially those in low and middle income countries. Management guidelines and other resources will be listed here. Management guidelines which appear on this website are free of pharmaceutical industry sponsorship.

European Respiratory Monograph
The European Respiratory Society (ERS) has recently published the Paediatric Asthma issue of its quarterly book series, the European Respiratory Monograph (ERM). The issue is Guest Edited by leaders in the field Professor Kai-Håkon Carlsen and Professor Jorrit Gerritsen, who have brought together distinguished pulmonologists to provide a comprehensive review of paediatric asthma. All aspects of paediatric asthma are covered, from birth to the start of adulthood, and the issue includes chapters on: asthma phenotypes; physical exercise; food allergy and anaphylaxis; genetics and epigenetics; pollution; asthma treatment; and psychological factors. This issue of the ERM book series should prove a useful resource in daily clinical practice, and it is hoped that young pulmonologists in particular will find this a source of inspiration in their future work.

Global Asthma Report 2011
ISAAC has collaborated with The Union to produce the Global Asthma Report 2011.This report shows the tools to manage asthma exist but are not reaching many of the 235 million people affected. The Global Asthma Report 2011 highlights the issues surrounding this major non-communicable disease.
Designed for stakeholders from government ministers and policy-makers to health workers and people with asthma, the Global Asthma Report 2011 is a richly illustrated "atlas" that provides an overview of what is known about the causes and triggers of the disease, the global prevalence, the progress being made and the significant challenges today and for the future.

Skin Examination Manual
This Manual produced by Prof. Hywel C. Williams at the Centre of Evidence Based Dermatology in Nottingham, UK, is designed to aid in examining study participants physically for flexural eczema. It consists of an online set of training images and a quality control test for fieldworkers to ensure standardisation of study methods. Harmonising Outcome Measures for Eczema
The Harmonising Outcome Measures for Eczema project is all about trying to reduce the current long list of outcome measures used in eczema clinical trials to 3 or 4 measures that all future trials can use. Many of the previous scoring systems for eczema have never been validated properly, and it is almost impossible to make any sense of the trial evidence base since different studies have used different outcomes. The HOME project hopes to come up with a list of core outcome measures that should be measured in all future eczema trials.

Asthma Drug Facility (ADF)
The Asthma Drug Facility provides affordable access for low and middle income countries to quality assured essential asthma drugs. It was established by the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (IUATLD) with the support of partners such as the World Health Organization (WHO). In addition to the lower the cost of essential asthma medicines, ADF offers technical assistance and support and a strategy for management of asthma to medical practitioners in low and middle income countries.

The International Study of Wheezing in Infants (Estudio Internacional de Sibilancias en Lactantes [EISL]) English | Spanish
EISL is an international cross-sectional multi-centre study designed to assess the prevalence, severity and other factors related to infant wheezing during the first year of life in Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. EISL has Spanish and English language web sites.
Nomenclature of Allergic Disease, World Allergy Organisation (WAO)
The report of the WAO Nomenclature Review Committee, updating the EAACI Nomenclature Position Statement published in 2001, was published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology in May 2004 (J Allergy Clin Immunol 2004; 113: 832-6). The aim of the report is to present a globally acceptable nomenclature for allergic diseases, with the ultimate goal of improving communication in the field of allergy. The nomenclature can be used independently of target organ or patient age group, and is based on the mechanisms which initiate and mediate allergic reactions. As knowledge about basic causes and mechanisms continues to improve, the nomenclature will be reviewed and updated on a triennial basis. This web page includes a summary of the terminology in 23 languages.
